Programs and Services
All LVS clients must demonstrate total household income of approximately 200% of current Federal Poverty Guidelines and show proof of South Carolina residency for at least one year.
Clients currently enrolled in SNAP, TANF, Subsidized Housing, or Medicaid are pre-qualified for assistance and can submit proof of current enrollment in one of those programs to expedite the application process.
Eye Surgery
LVS operates the most comprehensive and inclusive eye surgery program of its kind in the state. We pay for physician fees, surgery center fees, and anesthesia.
Eyeglasses
We provide a basic pair of single or lined bifocal lenses, and when needed an eye exam to determine the prescription. Some requests may be referred to a local Lions Club for assistance.
Vision Screenings
Most vision screenings are conducted by a local Lions Club, but LVS staff still use PlusOptix refractors, Titmus machines, and a tonometer in select screening events annually.
Client Events
LVS Client Events are open to any blind or visually impaired person (and their caregiver) in South Carolina. Virtual events require clients to have access to the internet and a smart phone, tablet, or personal computer.
