Special Initiatives
LVS pursues a number of strategic special initiatives, aligned with our Core Values, that are designed to increase our capacity, advance our mission, and elevate our leadership in the community. Each of these initiatives fills a unique niche in the eyecare industry and raises the profile of vision and eye health in our state, region, and nation.
Big Data Project
The South Carolina Big Data Project provides county-level data on the rate of blindness and low vision, the rate of chronic conditions, quality of life, and disability among older people with and without blindness & low vision.
LVS Ambassadors
The LVS Ambassadors program increases public awareness and understanding of LVS and vision and eye health through a year-long curriculum that provides an in-depth look into LVS operations for Lions Club and civic leaders.
NACLF
There are 58 organizations like LVS throughout the U.S., and 5 in Canada. The North American Conference of Lions Foundations is an effort to revitalize a national coalition of these organizations to better serve our communities.
Palmetto Vision Alliance
LVS leads the Palmetto Vision Alliance in coordinating, collaborating, and maximizing resources for the blind and visually impaired with key stakeholders statewide. The Alliance meets once a quarter on Zoom.
Vision for South Carolina
Vision for South Carolina is a joint venture project led by LVS with 3 other organizations addressing priorities for vision health. Together we are executing a unique, collaborative model of eyecare.
